Thomas Cartwright - Retires
after 19 ½ Years

Thomas Cartwright
worked at the Carter House since 1989 and is considered a Civil
War military expert by many. He has appeared on the History Channel in
numerous episodes, including: Battle of Franklin, Vicksburg, Shiloh,
Chickamauga, Irish to America, Rebel Foot Soldiers, Saving Our Battlefields,
Civil War Combat Series: Franklin, and Riding the Natchez Trace.
He as also appeared on TNN, C-Span & the Travel Channel. He has
lectured at Civil War roundtables all over the United States and conducted
Battlefield Tours at places like: Shiloh, Stones River, Chattanooga,
Chickamauga, Fort Donelson, Manassas, Gettysburg and of course Franklin.
Some of his articles and essays appear in "A Meteor Shinning Brightly",
"Black Southerners in Grey", "The Encyclopedia of the Irish in America" and
he is currently authoring two books.

David Fraley - Historian & Curator
David had been part of the Carter House staff since 1994 when
he started working part-time then becoming full-time in 2000. Formerly
the Director at the Lotz House Museum, he is most known for his
extensive research of the Western Theater of the Civil War (especially the
events of Spring Hill, Franklin & Nashville).
David is also a popular lecture at Civil War Roundtables
through-out the United States. He has authored numerous articles and
is currently finishing a manuscript on "Hoods Retreat and the End of the
Tennessee Campaign". |

Angell Wallace - Office Manager / Docent
Angell first started working for the Carter House as a
volunteer and then was hired full-time in 2004. Although her main
responsibilities deal with the day to day business activates of running a
non-profit organization, her passion and understanding of the history of
this site is evident every time she has the opportunity to lead a guided
tour. |

Alan Corry - Gift Shop Manager / Docent
After moving to Franklin, TN in 1999, Alan first visited the Carter
House as a guest to learn more about the history of his new hometown. With
a degree in Business and Masters in Christian Education and Counseling, his
background for the past 20 years has been in ministry. He has served
on church staffs in Texas, Florida, North Carolina and now Tennessee.
Currently, working in a bi-vocational role at a local church, he is
able to bring his ability to interpret history and tell the stories of what
happened here with passion to those who visit the Carter House.

Bobby Hargrove - Docent
Bobby's love of history dates back to his childhood as he
learned that he had ancestors who moved from Europe to Virginia in 1635.
He has ancestors who have fought in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812,
Mexican American War, Civil War, WW I & II, Korean War and Vietnam.
He has been involved in Civil War reenactments since 1964 and
is currently active with the 5th Kentucky CSA. |

Dennis Anderson - Docent
Dennis is a History Major and has worked part-time at the Carter House since 2001.
He is involved in Civil War reenactments and has participated in
demonstrations all over Middle Tennessee (including Shiloh, Murfreesboro and
Franklin). |
